This is a cruciform church dating to the early post-Byzantineperiod.The initial location of the St.Peter’s church was within the areaof the Athens International Airport El.Venizelos and relocationwas necessary to enable construction of the West runway.Relocation operations included lifting off the entire structure,placing on guidebeams and rail and traveling for a distance of340 m to the new appropriately selected location.
