The A07-TE05 underpass is located at CH 29+305 of NEMEA I/C section in contact with the existing bridge the width of which was inadequate to serve the present traffic needs. The new 20.00m clear span deck is formed by U shape precast beams combined with in-situ deck slab. The deck seats via elastomeric bearings on the new abutment walls arranged in the extension of the existing. Due to space restrictions imposed by the existing structures and foundations both the abutment walls were linked to a common bottom slab forming thus a U shape unit.The bottom slab is further extended to provide foundation for the new wing walls whereas the entire new structure is on Ø100 bored piles to avoid any disturbance on the existing foundations. The new and the existing structures are structurally separated however the new deck was made similar to the existing so that structural behaviours under traffic loads are similar.
